The Publication
NINTH ART is an independent gaming publication dedicated to serious, in-depth coverage of video games as a creative medium. Founded by a small team of critics, writers and longtime players, we believe games deserve the same rigorous, passionate analysis applied to film, literature and music.
The name comes from the idea that games are the ninth art — following the eight traditional arts of architecture, sculpture, painting, music, poetry, dance, theatre, and cinema. We don't treat that framing as a slogan. We treat it as an editorial discipline.
Our Mission
We uphold independent, objective editorial standards free from commercial influence. Our reviews are based on a minimum of 20 hours of playtime. We never accept payment for coverage, and our scores are determined by editorial committee without advertiser input.
Guides are written by players who have actually completed the content they're describing. Features are researched, cited and edited with the same care a print magazine would apply.
